About Aalayha:

Aalayha joined Knutson Construction as a Virtual Design in Construction (VDC) Intern while finishing her degrees in architecture and construction management at the University of Minnesota. Now, as a VDC Engineer, she combines her technical and construction background to leverage building information modeling throughout the design and construction process so the project team can make informed decisions in real time. She collaborates with project teams and owners to find the most innovative and efficient ways to deliver projects from preconstruction through closeout. Aalayha also has a passion for diversity, equity and inclusion within the construction industry and works to find opportunities to bring awareness and initiate conversation around the topic.

“My favorite part of what I do is being able to show people something they have never seen or never believed in,” says Aalayha, “Whether it’s a new perspective, a new piece of technology, or just simply a new way of approaching a specific project problem, helping people challenge themselves, their beliefs and their processes is what makes my job fun.”
