PROJECT ENGINEER
I’m a civil engineer on the project, working as a construction inspector on the oversight team. Essentially, I read plans and specs, and inspect any work done on site for adherence to them. I enjoy using the skills I obtained with my degree and mixing that with the complexities of working in the field on-site day to day. There is something amazing about being able to watch some drawings on paper become a reality.
I think there’s a myth still lingering out there that women can’t work in construction or simply wouldn’t want to do it. The truth is that I’ve seen amazing female workers in the field that could rival any of their coworkers and absolutely excel. The women I encounter on this project are a case in point.
I’ve been lucky to have worked for a woman owned company (PE Services) for the past 9 years. I could not tell you enough how much confidence I’ve obtained through watching the women bosses in my life bring their leadership and passion into the construction field.
