WIC Week 2026: Amanda Kellerhuis

Amanda Kellerhuis

Teamsters Local 346
ABOUT Amanda:

My name is Amanda Kellerhuis. I’m a 45-year-old single mom of two beautiful children and two grandchildren, with the third on the way.

I’m a third generation Teamster. My grandfather was Secretary Treasurer for Local 346 and ended his career as General President. His office in DC had the best view of the White House. My mother drove water truck for 35 years. My grandfather taught me to drive truck and trailer when I was 14, and I’ve always loved driving. So while I joined the Teamsters later in my career, I always knew I wanted to be a member.

I enjoy everything about my job. Even on the stressful days, there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing.

As a woman truck driver, I’ve heard the occasional guy make comments doubting I can get my job done, but I also get the satisfaction of proving him wrong. I get a chuckle out of the people who see me driving my dump truck and give me the thumbs up and hearing “that’s a girl, show them boys!”.

Advice I always give other women who are considering getting into the trades is go for it! Never be afraid to try new things, give it your all, never say no, and always be at least a half hour early. Be open minded and help your fellow workers no matter what they are doing. Hard work, determination, and dedication will always pay off!
