Jeff Jensen was, by all accounts, ahead of his time in demanding a safe workplace at all levels of the organization, from the top down and including subcontractors. Jeff graduated from Michigan Tech with a civil engineering degree and worked as a field operations employee before moving into management. As such, Jeff had a firsthand knowledge of what safety could and should be.
In addition to his passion for safety and safety procedures, Jeff was a pioneer in labor negotiations, joining with AGC Minnesota in negotiations with a computer. According to Dave Semerad, then AGC CEO, “In the early 1990s, Jeff brought his computer to negotiation sessions, and we started costing proposals using computer generated spreadsheets. We also typed out proposals for presentation to the unions. Jeff was the first to bring a computer into negotiations!”
AGC Minnesota is proud to honor Jeff Jensen’s memory with the Jeff Jensen Memorial Award.
There will be three awards presented, based on work hours:
Category I (0 – 149,999), Category II (150,000 – 299,999), and Category III (300,000 and above)
