About Sara:

My love for engineering and construction started when I was 5 years old; I took apart my parents' toaster and put it back together. After that, I started building “Connex” roller coasters, Ferris wheels, etc. My father, a registered structural engineer and the previous owner of a commercial general contracting firm, helped solidify my interest in construction at an early age through job site tours and coordination meetings. I received a BS in Civil/ Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and started full time as a Project Engineer working for a top 100 General Contractor in the Twin Cities. After successfully completing my first project and tangibly being able to see the results of our team’s efforts, I knew I had found my forever career path.

One of my favorite projects I have worked on is the Multi-Use Apartment project at the Highland Bridge Development. Not only is this project unique due to the site history and location, but it is also one of the first buildings on the 133-acre Development. This project provides an opportunity for us to utilize our in-house Development and Architecture + Engineering team as well as incorporate unique structural design elements.

Each new project brings different challenges and learning opportunities to the table. And just like food that is brought to the table, I am always eager to fill up my plate, try something new, and expand my palate!

Knowing I am helping to build the city I was born and raised in and love, I can honestly say, “I love my job” and have found what I’ve always been destined to do.
