How did you get your start in construction?
A family friend owned a business remodeling TJX stores. I would travel and do that for 5 weeks at a time. LOVED it but wanted to be home so that is why I left.
What are the things you enjoy most about the work you do?
I feel I have a purpose, something important. I used to serve in my younger years. A lot of people can walk into a restaurant and take a table's order. Carpentry is a skill, and I love learning new things as the days go by.
What advice would you give a young girl interested in construction?
If you love it, You can do it! A lot of people would look at me like I was crazy when I said I wanted to be a carpenter. You can do anything you put your mind to. Being 5ft 1 (small) makes things difficult at times but anything is possible! Just have to find different ways to do it!
