Everyone related to the construction process has an incentive to get the project done faster and at a lower cost. Lean Construction is based on the holistic pursuit of continuous improvements aimed at minimizing costs and maximizing value on a construction project.
The AGC Certificate of Management-Lean Construction (CM-Lean) Program consists of seven units that have been designed to develop deep knowledge of both the theory and application of Lean Construction.
The curriculum uses an active and engaging learning experience for participants. The course is activity-based, with discussions, case histories, problems, and exercises. Participants draw upon their field / office experience and learn by interaction with others from all roles and experience levels in the construction & design industry. This course is designed for participants at all experience levels with Lean, including beginners.
The course will span over 7 weeks, January 26 through March 11. Sessions will be held Tuesday & Thursday each week (plus two Wednesday sessions for Units #5 and #7).
Participants completing all seven units will qualify to sit for the exam to earn AGC’s Certificate of Management - Lean Construction (CM-Lean) credential.
Participants will need a computer with audio, microphone, and camera in order to participate in the course.

We encourage course participants intending to take the CM Lean Exam to do so immediately following the completion of all seven units. Information for the online exam will be provided upon completion of the course.

Description of the Course – Units 1-7:
Unit 1: Variation in Production Systems
Variation in Production Systems is an introductory course in the Lean Construction Education Program. This 4 hour, instructor-led course teaches the concept of variation.
Unit 2: Pull in Production
Pull in Production is a 4 hour, instructor-led course that explains the concept of pull as a means to reliable production workflow.
Unit 3: Lean Workstructuring
Lean Workstructuring is the first of two units that introduces the Last Planner® System (LPS). This system was developed by the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) to plan projects in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning. This 4 hour, instructor-led course describes the process of Lean Workstructuring.
Unit 4: The Last Planner® System
The Last Planner® System is the second of two units introducing the Last Planner® System (LPS). This system was developed by the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) to plan projects in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning. This 5 hour, facilitator-led course shows how to conduct make-ready and weekly work planning sessions.
Unit 5: Lean Supply Chain and Assembly
Lean Supply Chain and Assembly is a 9 hour, instructor-led course that explains the concept of lean supply chain and assembly.
Unit 6: Lean Design and Preconstruction-Choose by Advantage
Lean Design and Pre-construction is a 5 hour, instructor-led course that explains the concepts of value-based management, lean in the design process and relational contracting.
Unit 7: Problem-Solving Principles and Tools
Problem-solving Principles and Tools is a 9 hour, instructor-led course that describes the Lean Problem Solving Process and illustrates how to use tools to solve problems in a lean manner. This course also includes a 2 hour CM-Lean Exam preparation session.

AGC Members: $1,900 | Non Members: $2,400 (CM-Lean Exam registration and fees are not included) Payment is required upon registration. AGC members may choose to be invoiced. Non-members must pay with a credit card during registration.
Price includes the cost of the books required for the full course.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least 7 days before the first day of the scheduled program to receive a refund. This gives us the opportunity to allow other members to register. You may cancel by phone or email. No-Shows are not eligible for a refund or credit.

After registration is accepted: your books will be mailed to you and the instructor will send you calendar invites with Zoom class links.
Attendance is mandatory for all 7 Units in order to take the CM Lean Exam.
The AGC Certificate of Management-Lean Construction (CM-Lean) is an assessment based certificate credential that denotes knowledge and understanding of concepts related to lean adoption, practice and process transformation outlined in AGC’s Lean Construction Education Program.

Terri has over 20 years of experience working in the building and industrial industry as a structural engineer and engineering manager. She takes special interest in pursuing better ways to deliver projects through synchronizing workflows and improving collaboration between the field and the design office. Terri is now the owner of a consulting firm, Kata Consulting, that specializes in creatively supporting teams as they implement lean in their projects and organizations. Terri has her CM Lean Certificate. She also is an Approved Instructor for the Lean Construction Institute.
